Good steaks, but it ain't Ruth's Chris

Ate here last week. Very inconsistent, hence 3 stars. Our waiter was a fun, nice, professional guy, but we rarely saw him..service is slow and it takes forever to get plates cleared. The food is very good. The filet was great, and not charred on the outside (don't know what the other reviewers are talking about). The starters are okay at best and the wine list is good, but I think that this place spends too much time trying to get you to upgrade. The real stars are the sides. They were awesome! The mashed potatoes and mushrooms were great. The bread they bring at the beginning is warm, crispy and fantastic. Not the best, but not the worst. Not too expensive but there are other places that are better.

Great Ribeye and Great Winelist

Posted by paymard on 5/31/2008

Having looked around all of Orlando for a place to eat a nice dinner, we decided upon Vito's and we were so happy we did. We started with the Lobster Bisque and the Tomato & Bufalo Mozzarella salad. Both were exceptional. These were sizable servings, so we decided to share the 24 oz Ribeye for our entree, which was a good idea. We still had leftovers even after sharing. The preparation and seasoning of the ribeye made it one of the best we both had ever had. We ordered a bottle of wine from one of our FAVORITE vineyards and we were so pleased they had it in inventory (Girard Cabernet Franc). We were told they had an inventory of 1400 bottles. The Somelier was very educated and we had a wonderful discussion of some vineyards, which was great. The server was a bit new and he could have done a better job (hence the 4 out of 5 stars). But overall, a great meal and we will definitely go back. This is definitely one of the best restaurants in town.

The best fried green tomatoes ever

I have eaten here about 6 times in the past year and the food is excellent! Service is a little slow, however the waiter recommendations on wine were very good. The entrees are ar la cart, the side dishes were tasty with very large portions the mash potatoes they would make your mother sing for more, only there will be plently in one side order. I recommened Vitos to some friends and they said it was great as well.

Over Priced and Unimpressed

Had dinner on 05-16-07 at the recommendation of the hotel concierge as the best steak house in Orlando, however, he must haven been talking about another steak house as this restaurant rates at the bottom of the places that I have eaten. The air conditioning was so cold I thought they had seated us in the meat locker instead of the restaurant. The waiter did not tell us that the cheese crumbs for the salad cost $2.50. The 20oz.filet mignon that my wife and I split was the thickness of roast and excessively rare in the middle. The cost of a 13oz steak was $28 and the 20oz was $44. When he took the steak back cook it some more he left the mushrooms on the table. Did, I mention that it was served on a steel serving plate with out potatoes or vegetables. An experience that I would like to forget and over pricey.

Vito's is The Best of The Best - But You Get What You Pay For

I'm a regular at Vito's and I can't believe some of the comments people have left here. The atmosphere, along with the impeccable service, fabulous steaks and not to mention one of the US's BEST WINE LISTS.. you can't beat it. You can get anything from a cheap $30 bottle of Shiraz to a bottle of Chateau Petrus! The steaks always come out a little charred, that's the way they do 'em. I always ask for Wendy or Melissa who've been there many years. My only complaint about Vito's is that you definitely get what you pay for here. If you're on a travel budget or uncomfortable spending a lot of money on food, you won't be happy with their less-pricey entrees. It's also not an Italian restaurant, its a steakhouse, so the pasta leaves more to be desired. Overall, Vito's has that great old Steakhouse feel to it. I dine there at least twice a month and have never had a bad experience.
